“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” — Proverbs 27:17
When You Live With Sunshine in Human Form
My husband is one of the most positive people I know. It’s both wonderful… and mildly annoying. 😄

You know the type: glass not only half full, but also sparkling with a lemon slice and a paper umbrella. Meanwhile, I’m over here trying to figure out who left the dishes in the sink and how we’re going to pay for new tires. I wouldn’t call myself negative — let’s go with practically cautious or realistically responsible. Okay fine, sometimes I worry.
The Late-Night Worries
There have been nights when I’ve silently wrestled with a situation for weeks. I lie awake replaying every possible outcome like a Netflix series no one asked for.
Then, after exhausting myself and every logical scenario, I finally bring it up to my husband.
He listens calmly (which, honestly, is both comforting and infuriating when you’re mid-spiral) and then says something simple, sound, and reassuring — the kind of sentence that makes everything suddenly make sense.
And I’m sitting there thinking, Why didn’t I just talk to you three weeks ago?!
Positivity That Shifts the Atmosphere
Every time this happens, I’m reminded how powerful it is to have people in your life who can shift your perspective. My husband’s positivity isn’t blind optimism — it’s hope wrapped in faith. He doesn’t ignore reality; he just chooses to see it through a God-sized lens.
When he speaks peace, it changes the atmosphere in our home. Anxiety shrinks. Joy sneaks back in. And I’m reminded that worry never solves anything, but faith always steadies the heart.
Scripture says it best:“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” — Proverbs 17:22
Positivity rooted in God’s promises really is medicine for the soul.
Surround Yourself With Your “Positive People”
Not everyone gets to live with a walking sunshine beam, but we all need positive influences — friends, mentors, coworkers, or family who lift us up instead of drain us.
Here’s the truth:
You can’t always choose your circumstances, but you can choose your circle.
You can’t control what happens, but you can control what (and who) you let speak into your life.
“Let us encourage one another and build each other up.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11
A Word for the Worriers (Including Me)
If you tend to worry, don’t beat yourself up. God wired us all differently — some of us bring the sunshine, some of us remember the sunscreen. But when we allow faith-filled, positive people to speak into our lives, we see things more clearly. Their joy reminds us of God’s goodness. Their peace reminds us that everything doesn’t depend on us.
And maybe, just maybe, we start to sound a little more like them.
A Simple Prayer
Lord, thank You for the people who bring light into our lives. Help me to listen to voices that build faith, not fear. Teach me to be that encourager for someone else. Amen.
Who’s your “positive person”? Tag them or share how their faith and optimism have encouraged you lately!
